Gnaraloo run

Going to do a quick trip up to Gnaraloo on Sunday or Monday, if any one wants or needs something brought in give me a yell. Will be stopping over in the shearing shed.

Track in is due to be graded starting on Monday, word is that it is pretty horrible at the moment with a group heading in a couple of days back taking 6 hours from Carnarvon.

That f'ing dust storm then rain screwed it. I had to pick a mate up on the morning of it from the airport and any part of the track directly down wind was whiteout (with a tint of red) Was certainly a day to remember and my mates first ever there...to then get that rain in the wee hours was shite - from dust bowl to mud pit. Took the ocean a few days to recover but boy did it.
carnarvonite what do you know about a very large trawler out back raking the floor clean... some ground gone for sure, disgusting.

No idea on the trawler, only thought is that it is one of the Kailis fish trawlers from Exmouth, they are not supposed to be inside the 100 metre line

With fairness

It was 2 days before I was there so I didn't see it for myself but everyone else did. Out on the second ridge - way inside the 100m mark and nets easily seen from land. The term super trawler was used but I cannot confirm from my own eyes. Old crew well pissed and 100% sure some of their ground gone due to it.
Must say though that the ground does seem to change yearly but I did note significant differences.

if I remember correctly the Commonwealth trawl zones dont actually follow exactly the contour but a series of marks which are based on it roughly.
The vessels will have a VMS fitted so unlikely to deviate far from where they are allowed as a record is gathered continuously by authorities.

If you suspect they have ring AFMA in Canberra

Doubt they'd be doing anything illegal. It's pretty strict these days especially with VMS fitted
