fuel tank breather leaking

fumes coming from breather and spillage while filling. I cut the hose, inserted one way valve so air only flows into tank as fuel use and problem fixed. thouged they would have done better job from new as it was a commercial charter fishing boat .

My boat had a similar issue,
My boat had a similar issue, had to use a raised drawbar, lifted the front of the boat and the problem is solved. Also lifted the front of the boat on the trailer with the rollers. The breather is at the front of the fuel tank in my case, so there used to be a lot of trapped air in the tank until I lifted the front of the boat.
