Finally bagged my RST
Submitted by Neander on Sun, 2008-06-08 18:07
I finally got of my butt and got my RST this weekend.
If anyone is south of the river and have access to there own boat I recommend Skipperchicks.
It only cost me $100 to sit the 2 exams.
I just read the manual and passed fom the study
becki@skipperchicks.com.au if anyone is intersted.
Its the cheapest price I found in perth, you use your own boat for the practical.

Sorry Kaitan, but the reason
Sorry Kaitan, but the reason I think it is cheaper is you supply our own boat.
The next examiner I found was $175.
So if you are SoR with a boat it is a good alternative.
I was intending to do the 2 day courses available as I would imagine you would learn a bit more.
But I have been going on a few overnighters lately and couldn't afford the full course and $100 was better on the wallet.

Have not got mine yet
The RST is something i have been "gunna do" for a while, it would be good to get it out the way, i will be going through a local sea rescue mob, they are the ones on the coalface when its time to rescue us and can do with all the $$$ they can get .
Have put it off because i have been getting into the Kayak fishing caper lately,,no red tape or licenses as yet, but i am sure will have to register them one day ( fully fitted out fishing kayaks)

Heading home
Well, sounds like here was no RST person onboard or their gear wasn't compliant, or both.
