Hey all, taking my son up to Exmouth for the first time over Easter. I have a 6.5m Northbank so happy explore and put in miles. We have never been there but would love to get him onto a red emperor or trout. Dont need marks but if anyone had advice that would be great! I have been looking at charts and am thinking 15-20km North of North West cape may be a good starting point. I have all the gear but no idea
(No idea in Exmouth!) Plenty of fishing in shark bay so I well aware of what the tax man can be like !!!
Much appreciated!

Halbey Bank SW of the Cape in 120 metres
Plenty of trout and reds but getting them past the sharks is hard work

All the pelagics you want ....anchor on a current line
And drift fish gar or mulies unweighted .....if the current is too strong just add a small ball sinker to get the bait down a little. Spaniards, yellowfin and shark macks common as with the bonus of some huge spangled emps. We even hooked sails and marlin using this method out of a tinny

Will do, I usually float a mullie when I fish here in Perth but never had anything but a cuttlefish grab it. Is bait usually pretty accessible from the local tackle store?

Bait freely available in Exmouth
And both gardies and mulies work equally well, rig so that they are swimming in the current
