Lately ive been fishing in a harbour where i know its good fishing but i just seemed to be getting so many sting rays.with the water being so deep i like to use a sinker at the bottom with a dropper. i try put the dropper as high as i can from the bottom but still manage to get rays does any1 have any tips???cheers

i think theres no way around it mate
u just have to put up with em - even if you suspend your bait up off the bottom the rays sniff it out and eat it - i watched a big black ray eat a whole herring around 3 metres off the bottom

easiest way
guaranteed method.. when your baiting up your hook, just leave the bait in your bucket, and cast out a weighted hook :P
re not going near them.. if your worried about their barb..i used to be to.. if you use a rod holder (those pvc tube ones) for the beach, i take that down to the shore where the ray is and slide the rod holder up his tail collecting some sand as i slide it up, seems to keep there tail immobile while i flip him over to get my hooks out.. if that makes sense..

if your using a sinker its
if your using a sinker its unavoidable but if its light wind conditions u could alays bait cast or put a piece of soft white packing foam in the bait u are using this will keep your bait off the bottom u will still get rays come off the bottom to get your bait but not as many. small sand whitting i mainly use and i just jam small pieces of foam down their throat using a mulloway rig and when i cast i let the sinker hit bottom before i click bail arm over. this stops the bait following the sinker all the way to the bottom.

come fishing with me
you wont catch any sting rays...but then again, you won't catch anything at all
nah seriously...try a cork or something to keep your bait off bottom. Won't stop them but will slow them down...
