Rail Guns

A rail gun is powered by a big rubber band and a pnuematic is powered by air.

No, no and no. The rail guns

No, no and no. The rail guns actually have a rail in the top of the extrusion that the spear sits in. Not all spearguns have it, I think RA still have a non-railgun, the scorpia.

yes i was getting confuesd.

Rob allen has Railguns: tuna, sparid, Zulu etc.

Rob Allen has Non Railgun : Scorpia

Why would the scorpia have no guide to sit in is it less accurate or does it just save you lots of money? becasue the Scorpia is $120 cheaper...

exactly.

took the words out of my mouth till. they dont call a train track a railway because its pneumatic...

you definately CAN travel interstate, and overseas with spearguns, just not in your hand luggage, and posting them is definately not a problem (most gear is bought online and posted). you do not need a license for a speargun, therefore you do not need to make specific arrangements to travel with it. most people put them in speargun bags when they travel though, probably so as not to freak people out at the airports.

so you saying sometimes they just walk in with the speargun and shaft all in one and put it into luggage without a bag? Is there any extra cosy if bringing it over?

that depends.

Thu, 2010-01-28 14:14

it will cost to post it, and you will have to package it accordingly - wrap it up so it wont get caught/snagged on anything, and also to protect it from the baggage handlers and transit, etc

if you fly with it as luggage, it shouldnt cost you anything, much like flying with your fishing rods.

The guide improves its accuracy. Its cheaper to make a gun using plain old ali tube. Thats why the scopria would be less accurate, and cheaper to make.

Whats the fuss all about?

Thu, 2010-01-28 16:39

Whats the fuss all about? We're talking about packing a speargun, not china. It could be packed in a cardboard box and come though fine.

Sigh, I'm just saying you don't need to workshop packing a speargun for international travel, you just need a bit of common sense.

Boxes of all sizes are available all over the world, and often for free.
