Best bang for bucks reel

Been looking at the little collection.

Imo  best reel to coverbase's Is my Sustain 3000FG.

Strong enough for some bigger fish, light enough not to overkill the littlies.Consider this my bang for bucks reel.

What is yours?

Sounds like incredible value.

Great price that doesn't break the bank, smooth drag and just the right size so it can do just bout everything from jigging, baits, spinning etc.

absolutely love mine and recommend it to everyone.

Sat, 2014-05-24 00:25

I brought a pfluger salt reel not to long ago as I wanted a cheaper reel that I wouldn't be upset about if I damaged it rather than using saltigas all the time, and to my surprise the reel is actually very good. It is strong, smooth drag and a pretty good line capacity! Check them out

I've been using the pflueger salt 50 for the last year or so. Awesome reel and great value!   The finnor lethal 100 is on order.

It's amazing how good some sub $150 reels are these days.

Just to clarify guys that Lethal 100 is a very big reel and the review points out it is built very differently to the smaller models. To the point they maybe even should have a different name. They may have even got the pricing wrong!

Funny isn't it

Sat, 2014-05-24 08:25

I've read in a few places people saying 'due to Alan hawks review I'm going to buy a fin nor lethal' but then they say they're going to buy a 40 or 60 size.

Simply showing that they've never read the review.

THE REVIEW APPLIES TO THE 100 SIZE ONLY

The other sizes are pieces of crap.

I had a look at the Lethal 100. In terms of value for money, it may be right up there, but I wouldn't use one. It's just too unrefined. It winds like a coffee grinder and sounds pretty similar.

Spheros 8000 and sahara 6000

Sat, 2014-05-24 18:40

Spheros 8000, great reel IMO, my has had a work out up north on anything from trout to tuna and some very large sharks and my Sahara 6000 that I have used on everything from whiting to my PB snapper at 730 and 7.5kgs off the rocks, red emperor and spangled too. Both of these reels are not too expensive and have held up to a fair bit punishment

+1 on the pflueger salt 60. I've caught snapper, dhu, spanglies, sharks and some big rays. Never any problems with it and still as smooth as the day I bough it. All for $130.

Stella's Bang for Bucks???

Mon, 2014-05-26 08:02

Pretty pricy. I certainly wouldnt call my 2 Stella's bang for buck purely because of the price.

Obviously stunning reels, but you wouldnt want to loose one overboard (happened to me with an 8000SW attached to a Samuria Jig8 and I almost cried. Bloody big shark looked spent, and got a sudden second wind which took the lot!!!!!)

And the claim wasnt an issue as it was GoPro-ed. But it was the immediate pain for such a stupid move, ie b4 the sensed and reality clicked in.

I recall posting on here and someone mentioned claiming it. Might not have thought it was covered without Fishwrecked.

And not all off us have that cover. Also didnt get back anything near full value, but for a $1600 setup without the premium braid I was happy to get anything back. The GoPro footage is priceless. The look on my face and the Mrs pissing herself laughing was very funny.

Mon, 2014-05-26 20:05

i'm going to put the TR2000LD, a capacity to take 300m of 10kg, castable and quite cheap to own (when i was 16 many years ago), i used one for MANY a year when it was all i could afford on a McDonalds wage, matched to a Penn cheap rod, i had a combo that accounted for 15kg Spanish Macks, 6ft Bronzie from the stones off the back beach and heaps of Golden Trevs, Threadies and Queenies and it never failed, only lost it when i didn't put the ratchet on my reel and the line spooled out and dragged into the water nightfishing for sharks, we didn't have the variety back then, Calcutta's where WAY out of reach and there just wasnt the range over overheads and i couldn't afford a TLD 20 back then.

Now it would be my Wife's Fin Nor Marquessa 16 reel or my Abu Garcia 6500C3 baitcatser, landed some great fish with these and punch above thier weight, both multi use too.

Have received my Fin Nor Lethal 100. I dont really like it much. Its not as smooth as my Pflueger Salt 50 and the drag and winding sound is abit annoying! So I've arranged to swap it over for a Pflueger Salt 80, because the Salt 50 has been awesome and I'm sure the Salt 80 will be the same! Haha

Bang for buck

Tue, 2014-05-27 13:38

I have to say my cheap little Sienna 1000 that i have had for nearly 10 years would be mine.

It has never let me down, Tailor and bream in river, squid and herring off the rocks and flathead on the flats.

I have plenty of more expensive reels but it always alot fun with 4lb line screaming off this little reel.
