Another Shark sighting in Busso.

Just heard it on the news that a shark was sighted east of the Busselton jetty 60 metres off shore. Water as dirty as at the moment but fisheries are there trying to confirm.

No No.

I'm not to keen about sinking a hook into a GW. The scientists are saying if you've GW's you've got a healthy eco-system. Not to healthy if you're a diver but heh you can't have everything.

one licence per boat

Mon, 2012-04-02 22:16

With this many sightinGs of great whites we  should increase a bag limit of one per boat? - there is way too many locally. surely common sense is common sense- a six month season from sept to march isn't too much to ask

Do?

What are you going to do with a white pointer that is going to be over 3 metres? Cut the jaws out and toss it on the dump, what a waste.

There has been one caught that went just over a metre and to my knowledge that was the first that fisheries research have had recorded. I've seen probably 30-40 over many years at sea as an pro and as an amatuer and have never seen one under 3 metres.

With the exception of wobbies all sharks get tougher to eat once they get over two metres so I'd like to see someone try to pig out on something that resembles a truck tyre in texture.

local Commercial Fisherman.

My son worked for a shark fisherman at Vasse and they caught a great white that went 6.5 metres in length. Apex put it on display on the Busso. Jetty with an entrance fee of a couple of dollars. Made a lot of money out of it.

, monitor it then we may find this to be a rogue.

If the ECO systen is so healthy, why are we losing people to these predators???

Another little bit of imfo, there was a Net boat working the area around Peppy/Forrest last week and we all know how much offal and dead bi-catch is thrown over the side.

I remember a pro that used to set a stop net at the end of Bunkers Bay which ended with a 16.5ft GW which took two cruiser utes to get it out of the water far enough to cut the jaws out.

There was a woman a while ago on a yak down Dunsborough with her dog which were harassed by a big white till her husband pulled them onto a jet ski. That maybe the one Brad Y was talking about that was cruising that area for little a while.

Dont anyone tell the government that we have uncovered a sustainable GW shark fishery in the bay... That will have recreational bans and limits put on it too.
