Sailfish - Awesome underwater footage from Gully

This is likely to be the best fishwrecked video you will see in sometime. Absolutely magic footage of a 9-10ft sailfish going nuts at the boat. Hope you enjoy the underwater shots and the release of this truly special fish. Thanks goes out to Gully and the boys, enjoy!!!!!

Now that was a cracking video. Part where the sail jumps next to the underwater camera is gold. Well done boys.

Haha, Cheers guys

That stuff was done by Ewan who was also responsible for the underwater stuff off Two Rocks. Throughout the trip any chance myself or Ewan got we were in the water with the vid. Was a bit harder to get the other two into the drink with the cam so was left to us two.

Wait till Ads puts the shark stuff up - thats when we were a little more on edge with the cam

However you will have to ask Ewan personally about the size of his 'cohunas'

What a ripper video. Under the water you can actually see/feel how distressed the fish is. Puts a smile on my face though when it swims off.

The part at the end where the camera is looking from behind the fish and it's slowly swimming away is unreal.

Congratulations Gully, you guys certainly deserve every single accolade heading your way from the release of this little vid. I know it is merely one small segment with a lot more to come. Bring it on guys, its great footage.

All I can say is you and Ewan are mad b@stards to be swiming around in that water. Awesome stuff, love your work.

I might have to break out the bikini girls on my next fishing trip to try and top that effort.

Cheers

Andy Mac

Cohunas...

Tue, 2006-09-12 12:24

never you mind how big they are deefa...

Nah - The Narks are well fed up there - i personally fed them about 10 spaniards on that trip!! I didnt get ONE to the boat in 2 weeks!

I guess we believe they are just after the fish, not people - the amount of divers, spearos, tour operators etc that work up there and you never really hear of anyone getting eaten. Thats what we tell each other anyway, right Gull? I couldn't see myself filming U/W fishing stuff in our black southern seas - those are a very different breed! you dont hear of too many tiger fatalities...

Its a big thrill to see these stunning fish close up underwater though - the colours dont do it justice on this vid.

Cant wait for the next trip - hopefully by then we'll get together some more advanced gear, with picture stabilising etc - rocky boats are hard to film in...and the wind tends to get in the mic, but you learn! good pics and video just make the memories so much cooler...and you can share them on wicked websites like this one - thanks Adam! All credit to Gully on the vid editing efforts - he is a machine!
And just because you always see Gully catching the fish in these vids doesnt necessarily mean he got em all ;-) I think there is some selectivity in your edits, Gull - we have some discussions to be had ya mongrel ;-) haha!

Thanks for your feedback guys!!
