Experience

Definitely something that would be great to experience one day. Do you have to worry about bears around where you fish reaper?

Bears

Sun, 2011-01-23 12:34

hell ya  i get up before dawn  to drive down to the river/rivers depending on what one im going to  and wait for a buddy to join up where we then both walk with flashlights down to the hole   i have  run across a bear 3 times  and was enough to scare the  buggars outta me  real good one morning i had one run  right infront of me i coulda touched him with the end of my rod  luckilly he went the other way and never saw him again

second was again same river walking down heard a bear  stalking me  kinda  i was at the hole  and knew he was there but when the  breaking tree branches got closer i hightailed it out till i had company

third one was  we  went walking  a river trail and  found a spot to go down to fish buddy infront of me  grabbed rope and jumped down farking face to face with a bear he crapped his pants i yelled dont move and the bear ran the other way

then we get to the Cougar stories  yea  they are far meaner than any bear ive seen  and  can measure up to 7 feet long from nose to end of tail one river i fish on the was spotted at the campground right across from the river

but this is trully the best most exciting fishery you will ever see we have people from all over the world come here to fish i seen them from italy france germany and japan   the ones from germany i talk to alot and have taken them to some of the out of the way holes where fishing is better and not alot of idiots to   tangle lines with

im not one for a crowd so i go earlyy get my  chosen fish and buggar off  so i have no issues getting up at 3 am to go fishing  at first light

it is the most peacfull  beautifull time i  know of

Sounds like your well and truly in touch with the fishery.

No bears where I am but I do occasionally have to watch out for saltwater crocodiles.

Been at this one for years now

Mon, 2011-01-24 00:54

i know my home river by heart every rock every snag  in every spot i fish i know all the good spots to go and am always looking for more  secret spots to go play in the guys i fish with are all at the rop of there game when it comes to these fish  and we always have a hoot watching the ones trying to imitate us and what we are doing and this is after we have shown them what to do

i  on occasion have  made my pass hit on a fish  fought it lost it  hit another same pass  lost it  hit another  and then landed it

i have consitantlly nailed  fish after fish  toss after toss without missing a beat i was lucky enough to learn from and old timer  and some of what i was shown i have never  shown any one else YET

im sure them crocs can get nasty do they chase a fish on your line or no?

we have seals here that  come up the river and wait till a fish gets hooked then they know they have an easy meal they chase it and eat it  before you can wind it in  this is why its good to have a buddy  to throw rocks at seal while you play fish

Fish

Mon, 2011-01-24 14:23

Haven't had them bother the fish, apart from some cheeky smaller ones that attack the live baits.

The bigger fear is the unseen adults that may fancy you as lunch!

you figure

Tue, 2011-01-25 23:52

you and 20 to 40 lbs of fish 100 feet of river to the other side  most places its 3 to 6 feet deep up to 10 in others

you toss your line in  and it starts its drift  you can feel it bump bump bump on the botttom then all of a sudden Wham you set the hook and wait  yup you got him  and you can tell he is big the waters fast moving  and the fish knows this  he heads right for it  and you try to keep him out  cause you know if he makes it he can rest up and relax then he realizes he has this thing in his mouth that hurts and off he goes up and down  one side to the other  and all the while you have your rod tip high holdingpressure on and letting him run when he wants  you are winning the fight you see  you get him  within ten feet of you and you can see he is huge  gotta be 30 plus  you think he aint done yet and just as you say that he is gone again  andother 15  to 20 minutes of him darting around the river  this time  you get him  within a couple feet of the landing spot  the most dangerous 30 seconds you will ever know  99% of fish are lost right here

you think should i try or wait  is he tired enough or not  and just as you make up your mind to try  he has darted off yet again showing he still has it  you and him go yet another 20 minute round  this time he comes flying out of the water  and  rolling and splashing   trying everything to throw that hook he starts getting closer  you can feel it this time he is spent  he hasnt got no more  in he comes real easy this time   ten feet  then 5 feet then  the last couple feet again  but this time he lays down on his side  indicating he has nothing left   NOW you finish the last couple of feet and claim your prize you have won and  got a nice 35lb Chum Slamon  for the BBQ tonight

this is pretty much  what its like to catch and play a fish
