New & Used

No prizes for guessing which one has had an outing on the good ship Mackattack. Would love to know what would punch holes like that in a tail, my guess would be a big Harlequin. Shame it didn't hook up.

they definately work

I have been using them for a couple of weeks now and scored a few Dhuies and a small snapper on the first trip out before I lost the first rig on some reef.
The last trip out I wasn't quite as successful as the "super snell" accounted for most of the fish. Although you can tell by the bite marks something pretty serious had a go at it.
I have been putting it on the top dropper with the super snell on the bottom loaded with a whole squid and whole mulie as I described in the FWA article. There will be a vid coming onto the site shortly on the Dhuie caught on a small circle hook I have been experimenting with and the last big snapper from the same trip but caught on the trusty super snell.
In two trips there has been enough enquiry on the Berkley Power Grub to make me want to have it high on the list when we get slack water to hopefully entice a strike when the fish go off the boil. Until then I will probably continue with the circle hook / snell combo when I get a bit of drift.
As for working the grub, the tidal or current movement is enough to get the tail swimming and that's all you really need, though a gentle lift and drop would work well I think in slack water.
One tip for all those new to fishing "glow in the dark" accessories with your bottom fishing rigs, make sure you leave the accessory in sunlight the moment you get out of the marina so that it soaks up some daylight with which to glow. If you just take it straight out of the tackle box (in the dark) and onto a rig then plunge it below where there is very little light, you cannot expect it to glow very much at all.
