First fish on rod and reel

First fish on rod and reel

I took some friends out to dive with the spawning coral trout and grouper yesterday. Unfortunately for us (and you) the drift was about three to four knots and we were flying way to fast for photos. But let me tell you they were there (you'll have to believe me). Hundreds of them up to four feet long; it was simply awesome. I'll be going back in a little while and hopefuly the current won't be a problem like it was yesterday. On the way to the dive destination we trolled the reef and I managed to get a mate on to his first fish ever on a rod and reel. A solid little wahoo that made him earn it. It always a good feeling to see someone land a nice fish when you've had a hand it making in happen.

No better feeling than helping someone to a PB or a first fish etc.

Didn't take the wheelbarrow out today I see?

Wheelbarrow

More of a diving day Andy, although I didn't mind the wheelbarrow day. It's a great feeling to give fish to people that can't afford it. The average wage here is about $2 an hour and you know how they get averages..... A lot of people are well below that figure, with about 35% of the island people unemployed. Two guys went out on Wednesday last week and boated 34 wahoo and gave nearly all of them away to the masses that could never afford it. I like living here; life is so far simpler that Australia at times.
