Coconut Crab

I've been searching for a decent sized coconut crab for the last two years. Normally I head over to an Atoll about 10 miles off shore where the locals can't rape the place. I've found heaps but never a good one. Today I took the family for an Easter Monday snorkel at an island inside the reef and about 2 miles from shore and found this bad boy inside of a minute. Meant to be I guess. You have to be pretty careful when holding them, the break open coconuts for a living.....

Big
By all reports they get a bit bigger Russ. I haven't seen to many bigger than this one here though. There's a fair big of pressure on them though, the locals love em.

That's a Baby!
Hey Soupy,
Let him go, it's a baby! The get as big as a rubbish bin lid in most parts of the pacific (eg Vanuatu), and also Indian ocean (eg Christmas).
When are you coming back to Aus?

January 2013 unfortunately. Could definately do another three year stint back-to-back. Unfortunately some fool who has never set foot on a Pacific Island decided to take the Rec Boats away. Luckily I have come up with another plan that gets me out whenever I want. Not so great for the rest of the guys though.

Had some a long time ago in Vanuatu
Awesome feed. It was a bit disconcerting when we arrived there was a crab walking around at the entrance to the restuarant tethered to a rope. Had a good look at it. When we left, it was gone!!!!
