Bluefin Tuna

Bluefin Tuna

Mercury Game Fishing Club Report: - New Zealand

Not much to report on the local front but great news from Ross Faulknor (of Bellona fame) with his 292.5kg Bluefin Tuna caught on 23 August. 1hr 40min on 60kg made pretty short, but I dare say tough, work on this fantastic fish.

Cracking fish that one. Certainly would have heated up the drag washers on the first run.

Greymouth Tuna

Thu, 2006-10-12 11:55

They catch those tuna by following the deep trench hoki trawlers. When the trawlers pull up their gear the tuna are into the trash and by catch......this one is about average...One guy fought one for 14hrs, only to bust the leader at the death.....estimated at twice this ones size.......a couple of well set up charters leave Greymouth, NZ, just to target these babies....full on!
