Your fish taste - Rankings

Saw a thread a while back that gave me a pretty good idea.

Just wondering what everyones preference is in regards to fish. Maybe list your top 5 fish and the ones you would prefer to catch in relation to taste. In other words, what do you reckon are the best to chew on?

Mine would be:
1) Groper
2) Coral Trout
3) Mulloway
4) Breaksea
5) King George

Sure theres heaps more, but they are the ones that spring to mind. I do find Dhuies pretty good, but still think theres plentry of others that taste better. But its a personal thing and everyone has their own preference... So what's on your list?

Top 5

As mentioned it's darn hard to narrow the field. Mine would have to be a bit of a blend.
1. Bit hard to split Coral Trout and Red Emperor for the north.
2. Spanglies are in the same field, love the emperor.
3. Heading South would have to be King George and the odd slab of fresh Dhufish. (Tony mastered mean Dhuie dishes).
4. Until you taste a small barra Malcolm Douglas style off the coals you don't know what your missing.
5. Fresh Cobbler from you know where Ads is pretty good too.

It's just to hard this top five task. Sorry had to include a couple of fish in different ratings. I just can't do it!!

what about those giant southern cobbler...and black bream. It's long, hard work catching them but that's the story with anything worthwhile..so they say!

I have not eaten all the ones mentioned, but out of ones i have caught in the last year or two..

Dhu
Harlequin
KG
Breaksea Cod
Cant beat a good serve of Flathead IMO.

I like eating heaps of different fish and they all have there place, even the humble Herring is an enjoyable feed of fish when cooked well. I have even sushied Garfish, KG and Herring in california rolls, they were great. Try Sashimi Tailor next time you get one, its almost beefy flavour raw is really quite a surprise!

there are fish i dont like too, i wont eat it all..;)

Dolphin Fish

Sat, 2006-03-11 11:04

The good old dolphin fish doesn't seem to crack a mention so far. I reckon that pan fried the day it's caught it's a great feed but don't freeze fillets for later cause they don't taste the same.

All other favourites already mentioned in other guys lists.
