Yesterdays weather

Did anyone get caught out?

Wind swung from a mild 10 knot south westerly to a northerly that gusted to 37 knots over a 20 minute period.

I had a mate on the beach on the inside of garden island. I texted him at 1:30 to watch for the north westerly but suggested it wouldnt be too bad. By 2 it was absolotuely pumping at work and he called to say they were headed in. they had managed to keep the boat off the beach (it had swung 120 degrees to the wind shift) and they had put on life jackets for the way back to woodies.

I sat and watched the woodies camera looking for them and noticed plenty of boats coming in.

I was 15nm west of Mandurah and it was fairly pleasant until apx 1510hrs. We were on our way in when someone turned a big fan on! Certainly blew from the North.

A little bumpy on the way in although still averaged around 17knots. It would have been crap heading into it!

Interesting though, earlier in the day (morning) some poor bloke was rescued. Boats stern was submerged/semi submerged and bloke was in the water with life jacket on and had activated his PLB. We didnt see him, however heard all the comms over the radio.

I was out approx 20nm west of Carnac & it did gust to around 22Kts from the north west for a short time. I did hear on the radio some people having difficulty in close.
