what is the strongest and less faulty terminal tackle knot

hey guys looking to find the strongest knot to tie mono (50-80lb) to terminal tackle. i use a locked half blood knot. is something like a uni knot stronger or less likely to pull.
im only wondering because last time i was out i had some great big bites. then hooked something big and went for a huge run then seemed to slow and *tick* it was gone. pulled it up and my knot pulled through. i died a little bit inside that day because my biggest duhie was 40cm and i was sure thats what it was.

Uni Knots for me
That's about all I know LOL. Seriously though, with some careful tying I have never really had a problem with Uni knots.

the FG knot is really good. well worth the effort it takes to tie.
i use bimini to slim beauty or even bimini to improved albright.

FG and GT knots are great,
FG and GT knots are great, but the guy wants terminal tackle not, not braid to mono joins.
Uni, or chain knots are probably the go, although some people like the jansik in heavy mono. Better again are crimps.

uni knots lol. simple and
uni knots lol. simple and effective. i used to used locked blood knots and had some success, but half the time the knot slipped. uni's are really easy to tie, i reckon easier than blood knots. i still use blood knots for small stuff for herring and bait because its so quick lol.

The blood knot really should be let die. The trilene is knot is very similar and a little better, but the uni is sooo simple you may as well just forget about either the trilene or the blood knot.

I have never had one come
I have never had one come undone or snap at the knot even with heavy leader locked up in a raging battle snagged on reef etc so it does me fine . Quick and easy knot to do aswell

Uni is at least as easy to tie and stronger. If you can tie a decent blood knot, it's pretty simple to migrate to a better knot.

I've used the locked blood knot most of my fishing life for terminal (hooks to swivels) - never had one slip or fail. 50-80lb mono - 7-8 turns, LOTS of spit and pull it up tight as.

Locked blood knot except i put another loop through the eye of the swivel so pressure is spread at 2 points not all on 1, has never failed me.

i only did about 4/5 turns for 50-80lb mono is that not enough and the reason why its slipped. how many turns do you do on the uni knot? do you use more turns as you go ligter or heavier?

go and try a your knot on
go and try a your knot on light braid to swivel, if it slips with that then something is wrong with the way you tied it , i found this out when i tried it on light braid to swivel, when going to lock off the blood knot it is important that last strand go through the top the right way or else it slips of easily, its harder to see with mono because it bites into itself and seems locked down until you get something big.

Use to only use blood knots
Then had some failures and changed to the UNI, which I find much easier to tie than a locked blood knot. I can tie a UNI in pitch black nights without looking at the knot. It is a lot harder to tie a blood (locked or not) in low light because the tag has to be threaded.
Also the UNI is a much stronger knot.

Another vote
for the uni knot. If your tying 50-80lb mono to a swivel or hook 3 or 4 turns is plenty. the old rule of the heavier the line the less turns applies. Under 20lb i'd go 5 turns, over 80 go 3. If tying braid to a swivel go throught the swivel twice the tie the uni with at least 8-12 turns (braids more prone to slippage). Good luck.

I've found it depends on the type of leader material. I've witnessed my own 5 turn uni's slip a bit using 140lb varivas leader, but it is quite soft stuff which allows you to tie uni's with more than 5 turns. With harder leader material slippage seems to be less of a problem.

I took the time to learn the "Sebile Knot" for joining braid to mono.
Its an easy knot,casts really well and is strong.

i always leave a 5+mm tag on
i always leave a 5+mm tag on uni / bimini and longer on albright . they can bite down a bit. as said though , uni has never failed me.
blood knots have.
when i saw a mate pull in a 10+kg mulloway on 4lb line off the beach using uni knot , i never went back

Sebile knot?
Tried the Sebile knot for leader's found that it worked well for all braid except Berkley fireline has anyone else found this? It seemed like the fireline was a bit greasy for it.

I too had trouble getting the knot to "bite" Solution is easy when tightening I use 2 4" bolts to wind the leader and braid on.Leave plenty of tabs on before pulling tight.

Does anyone here crimp there flurocarbon or mono leaders??
I considered it but wondered if it would cut into the leader.
As attempting to tie the nail knot today i found it rather difficult on 150lb leader. and a blood or uni is no good on line that heavy i just wouldnt trust it not to slip.
I will have to attempt the chain knot in the morning when i head out that looks simple and quick as its basically just a series of clove hitchs up your main line.

locked full blood knot, passing the tag through the eye of the terminal tackle is very effective or the uni knot, i use the uni to join my 50lb braid to my swivel when bottom bashing, takes a bloody good pull to snap it when you are snagged.

ive used shogun mono crimps
ive used shogun mono crimps on 60lb for the SBT's and anything else with a lure for 5 trips (i keep forgetting to change it) and its super strong and neat. make sure you dont crimp the edges just the middle (that way it wont cut the line) you can use those protective plastic sleeves if you want them to last a bit longer.

i have found this knot to be extremely strong and easy to tie.
held up for me at steep point using 50lb braid to 80lb Jinkai leader when hooked to a reasonable sixed shark. Fought for 40+ mins without giving.
