Found these old photos from 9 years ago, dodgy shirts and bad glasses but what kind of fish are they. I reckon they are both catfish but not sure whatsort. Both bait caught down the east coast of OZ.
Let me know cheers

There is quite a few salt Cobler about, and i rate them pretty dam good on the tooth.
Always get a feed of them in Mandurah, just need to know where they are and what bait. All the ones we catch a sea cobler not estuary

The top one is a Blue Salmon
The top one is a Blue Salmon Catfish and taste like mud, the bottom one is an eel-tailed cattie (cobbler, if it's from the salt, and like the guys said great to eat.

G'day Ian, I think the fish your referring to is the Giant Salmon Catfish (big golden buggers that pull like hell) and yeah they're not bad.

Mate you one lucky Pom
The bottom fish is certainly a cobbler and it has 3 nasty spines covered in a toxin that will make grown men cry. Just grabbing it like that is not a smart idea and I suspect you where lucky. I have had a sting and ended up with a nerve block of my finger! Ouch!

Cobblers!?
Well boys I was fairly confident about the sting in both of them which is why I kept my hands away and employed the use of a bag in the second photo..felt a bit of a sheila doing it but still...Caught them both from the sea and the bottom one was from a south sydney beach!
