Trinidad DC reels

I have done a bit of a search and I can't find any decent reviews on the Shimano Trinidad DCs. Has anyone tried one and/or has anyone heard any positive or negative reports.
Keen to get one, but I would like to know if they are all they are cracked up to be.
Many thanks, Colin Hay

Ive got the 20dc and love it

Ive got the 20dc and love it but to be really honest if your good enough casting with a overhead theres not much advantage. Even in the wind but still saying that its nice to be able to sling out a big bait or lure noing you dont have to be too worried about over runs. Excellent at night which is why i brought it. You just have to toss up the money facture i guess but if money is not a option and your in the $7000 to $10000 range just go get one!Money mouth

Hi Chris

Yes, it is the opportunity to use an overhead at night that I am really after. I have 2 saltist 40s (a high speed and the normal speed) which cast fantasically, but I struggle at night judging the deceleration. And with braid, a birds nest at night is murder.

I am tossing up whether to get the 20 or 30. You obviously have chosen the 20, is that for weight reasons?
Thanks for the info, Colin Hay

Yes it is colin and also i like my compact outfits as well nothing worse than lugging around big stuff and long stuff ie rods. Imo the the 20 is ideal for all wa coastline stuff unless your at steep then u want bigger than the 30 anyway. Id only go the 30 if your planning to chase big sharks off the beach or something simular,

How smart are these digital

How smart are these digital cast controls? I understand the mechanics of it, but the result is all dependant on how you program it. Can you cast without using your thumb for control, or does it just make it easier to cast without birds nests? If thats the case, i'm guessing that it would be kind of like adusting the cast knob/weights except its a bit smarter than that and only slows it down towards the end?

Hi Rob

The only Pen TRQ100 was a trolling reel. Is there another model which is a oeverhead casting reel?

Matt, I have seen demonstrations on TV of the DC and yes, you can cast it without using your thumb. As I understand it, the other advantage is that you don't have turn the cast control magnets down as hard as you would to get a similar result on a non DC reel, giving you a lot more casting yardage.

Any probs with water intrusion? When your spending that kind of dough it's good to know these things.

Supposedly not Daisy

The few reviews I have found seemed to think Shimano had that fairly well covered. But I guess you will be big trouble if it gets a serious dunking.
