Road crazies
I was hanging to get back down to Hillarys for round two with the mysterious sea creature which busted me up the other day, so I decided to head down there this morning before dawn. Dragged myself out of bed and set off at 5 am to try and get a hour in before sunrise and high tide.
As those in Perth know the weather was pretty wild early this morning, so I was taking it pretty easy on the drive down, thankfully.
I was making my way down Beach Rd and coming to a set of lights near a cross intesection when I saw something through the gloom. It was two guys standing in the middle of road, drunk I guess, trying to wave cars down. I swerved around them and felt thankful I wasn't going a bit faster.
Thought it was a bit strange though. What were they doing at 5 am wandering in the middle of the road in the pouring rain.
Arrived at Hillarys and the same thing happened again. This time three guys were sitting on the roundabout road outside the marina.
Was there something big on last night that I missed. I haven't seen this before at that time of the morning and to get two different groups on the same trip was quite weird.
All the best, Colin Hay

No MIlsey
The wind was absolutely howling and it was pretty tough fishing as you had to use a fair bit of lead to stop your bait being blown back in your face. I managed a couple of small skippys and a wet butt in three hours.

Pull line?
Do wet buts pull much line Colin?
What are drunks staggering round in the early hours of a Monday morning for? Had a couple of our indigenous locals walk past our place around 2am on Sunday, fissed as parts - they were making so much noise, I thought there was 30 of them. Clowns!

Best bite I had was from three rock cats who tried to run off
with my block of mulies.
There were pretty appalling conditions on Sunday morning and that was why I was a bit surprised to see all these dudes wandering around on the roads at that time of the day.
I thought I was the only nut out there.

I know I must be mad Russ
As tommo said, it was pretty bad on Sunday. The worst part was when I was walking back to my car, freezing, with a wet butt and smelling of bait, I looked into the restaurant on the north wall side of Hillarys and saw all these people in there, all nice and warm, eating a warm breakfast and drinking hot coffees.
I mainly do it because of family commitments that take up a lot of my time, but I also find that the dawn and evening hours have been pretty successful for me, particularly at Hilaries.

Biggest would be a shark
Can't tell you exactly how big it was as I cut the line once I got it to the rocks.
Best fish are probably a 45 cm skippy and a similar sized tailor.
