Trim and tilt issue

My Verado 175 has an issue with the trim and tilt.
Motor works fine and there's plenty of fluid in the reservoir , yet it's staying in the up position when the switch is activated . Any ideas what this could be and a good way to troubleshoot ?  .
Cheers in advance .

Might sound silly but has the safety latch that you flick over when doing maintenance accidentally been engaged ?

Boats is in the water so I don't want to open the release screw and not be able to get the leg back up . The safety latch hasn't been deployed and there's no movement  either way .  I'll have a look at the relays in the morning . F@2#3;g boats !

tilt relays...

Mon, 2020-01-06 18:27

Fixed another tilt relay problem only a few weeks ago.  Lucky I had spares in my tool box (automotive ones)

Dont get hung up on the genuine article.....   a relay is a relay is a relay.

I just bought 12 on ebay for future similar disaters.

Just make sure you check how many pins your relay has and get the same (usually 4 or 5 pins)... also go for a minimum of 40 amps.

You should be ale to hear the relay 'click' when the switch is activated... but that doesnt mean the internal contacts (switch) is functioning correctly.

Oh... find out if you have a single motor to drive the RAM or 2.....  it makes a difference to the wiring and how you test further.

Worst problem you may encounter is the 'genuine relay' may not have compatible connectors with a REPCO/other one.  A competent auto electrician will be able to work it out.

FIrst one I ever did saved a mate some $1000 over buying the genuine SUZUKI ...

Forgot to add that the pump motor is operating. Trim up , motor works, trim down , motor works. No fluid is being pumped me thinks . Like I said F @#$%+g boats ! ( just as well there's two motors on it ... :)
