Easy drive
In april last year I towed my 6m glass but stayed the night in carnarvon but this year were doing it in one go either way about 17-18 hours driving but take two spare bearings and two spare tyres just to be safe

towing
Hey there Marty9,
We tow my 7.2m up to exy once a year and have no problems at all. We leave at 6pm and we are there about 8am the next morning. Give or take a little bit depending on how many beers the boys in the back have. Just make sure you tie the front and back of the boat down really good. Nothing worse than a road train going the other way lifting the boat off the trailer. Can cause all sorts of nightmares. Just make sure you take it easy if you havent done it before. Safety always first as fishy fingers said. Spare wheels and bearings is a must. We alwys replace the bearings on my trailer before we go and take spares as well. Never be to safe with these things

Get ya bearings checked
Get ya bearings checked and greased by a mechanic unless your capable yourself but take some spares regardless. Same with vehicle have it serviced before ya go. We done some wheel bearings on my mates Landcruiser coming home from Dirk one year. Then a harmonic balance gave up on another vehicle a bit further down the road. Not much fun.
GO BLUES.

Towing!
16-18 hours with stops and yeh having a few drivers to help out is the go. I hate staying o/night as i feel i loose 4 days off my trip but each to their own!
Definatly have the bearings replaced (as mentioned) and tyres checked/replaced if need be and i'd take my boat over hiring anyday!
All the best!

day time driving
when we go up this year we'll leave about midnight that way by the time we get north of geraldton it will be getting lighter the rest of the way it's daytime driving and we dont have to worry about the cows etc north of carnarvon!

18hrs is a long time, I
18hrs is a long time, I would say more like 16 if you have three drivers. WIll let you know after sunday(coz i will be doing just that)!!! We always get away from NOR by 4.30 and just stop for fuel and a piss or two and get into town before sundown. The only thing that stuffs you is mining trucks being trailered on the way to Geraldton(which can ad 2hours) and if you aren't looking like being in Exmouth before sundown, STAY IN CARNARVON!!! We made that mistake last january and hit 5 roos, sat at 50km/h for the last 5 hours, just missed two cows and snapped the cable on the trailer brakes because a roo hit it! Never again, not worth it for a fish.

trailering to exy
Always drive straight through and is about 16-18hrs as mentioned. I like to do the night mission as it seems to go quicker and avoids the heat of the day.
Definately make sure your spare is up to scratch and when towing long distances I always have a brand new set of spare bearings for each wheel. Also if going down this path make sure you have the required tools to change them out if you have a blow out :)
Watch the areas each side of Carnarvon if travelling at night as they seem to be hotspots for roos and goats. A good set of spotties is also not a bad investment
Have fun and drive safe

Roleystone to Exy
Aprox 17 hours with fuel stops. I take off at Around 10 pm and get to exy around the 2.30 mark. I tow a 5.5 plate aly and do around 85-95klm/hr. Steady steady. Oh and I always do a check of all wheels and bearings before long trips as I have tandem trailer with a spare wheel and hub mounted ready to go plus spare bearing kits ya never know.
Spoon is spot on I take UHF and trail a truckie when I can and get draged along sometimes at 100 and I use less fuel and no roos to hit.
