For those who have a dog

I just came to the obvious realisation that i should keep the poor tasting fishing and just feed them to my dog, such as wrasse or garfish. Its great for the dog they love the taste and you will save hundreds of $ depending on the size of your dog. I would catch atleast 5-10 wrasse every trip which i just throw back.

Crays

Fri, 2013-02-22 05:42

I do the same my rotti's love eating fish and the heads and frames! But I wasn't impressed when I found my girl on the back lawn eating a fresh cray that she must have pinched out of the Eskie when my back was turned! I must admit that the still alive cray looked less impressed!

Old Lab

Fri, 2013-02-22 07:59

Had an old labrador that I had to get put down , but for years he would turn his nose up from a piece of steak if there was something from the sea on offer. Occy, cray legs and shells, crabs, prawns, etc whole herring were his favourite though you had to watch your mulies when beach fishing because given a chance he'd be off with a mouthful and down the beach to scoff them.

 My dog loves fish skin

Fri, 2013-02-22 09:51

My dog loves fish skin scales and all. I give him the frames and he chews all the meat that left on the bones then munchs the heads

When I fillet fish, I throw

Sat, 2013-02-23 17:31

When I fillet fish, I throw the frames over the fence into  a vacant bit of crown land.

Every chance my dog sees the gate open, he is off!  we know he will be back shortly with some skin / frame / skull.  He wont touch it fresh... needs to be dried and have that rank smell to it.

Frozen Mulies

Sun, 2013-02-24 07:27

I was down BCF and there was a guy buying a couple of 1kg bags of IQF mulies and I asked him where he was fishing and he told me they were for his dog. Supposedly the dog liked to eat them still frozen!!
