Tamala Station closed

Just a bit of info for anyone planing a trip tp Tamala in the near future.......

Tamala station will remain closed for camping until further notice.

Tamala now has an Indigenous Land Use Agreement over the whole of the Station which has impacted most of the camping areas.

We are required to now submit an application for a new camping licence.

Unfortunately, we are unable to take any bookings until the application has been approved by the DPLH.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience this causes our customers.

Market

Sun, 2020-05-17 08:11

Been on the market for years but the asking price is too sky high. The owner Mrs Wi is said to have dementia and control of it has passed on to her children and they have dropped the price a couple of times but still no solid offers. There was a couple of inspections while we were there 3 years back but nothing came from them.

With the exception of the motel, the rest of the place is severly run down and in need of major repairs. IMO  over $1.5 million would be needed to bring it back to its original standard. Toilet blocks falling to bits, plumbing lines blocked, generators replaced, kitchen renovate, the list goes on.

A mate called Nanga a few weeks back and was led to believe it was under new management at least if not ownership, but I think he said the prices have sky rocketed too though.

 The Lucky Bay camping area

Sun, 2020-05-17 07:56

The Lucky Bay camping area is to be under the Management of the Yamatij Nation Lands Corporation too.

Im hopeing Tamala isnt under the same corporation, as it hasnt been established yet apparently , so it could be some time until there is any action.

Ill call Tamala Monday and try and find out some more.
