Metro mackie

I always thought they were a myth, especially landbased!!! I don't really try for them but I've seen some rippers caught from the Two Rocks area. What a memorable catch!!!!

its not uncommon for mackies

Thu, 2010-02-11 22:52

its not uncommon for mackies to be caught from the shore in the metro area. Hell I even caught one from South Mole, it went 9kg some 11-12 yrs ago. Unfortunately, was a camera day but got mentioned in the paper.

The Ammo jetty is the perfect spot for chasing Mackies, you just have to put up with the crowd on weekends and holidays and other bystanders who seem to crowd around when you need room to move.

Yes, cant wait to see this pic.

i go there mostly everyday during the holidays but never heard of a mackerel being caught there. How do you catch them? throwing a large bait out?

I've heard of plenty coming

Fri, 2010-02-12 22:22

I've heard of plenty coming from woodies point jetty when the waters are right..
Seen a couple smash bonito lures (instant fail for the angler) and even a few small tuna around there.
Just goes to show when you have a bait out there anything is possible.
Is that wire on the hook?
