Strandard!
I got this email from a client this morning and i thought it might be a good one to put up on the site! Here we go..........
You are strandard on a deserted island with all the beer, girls (boys if you prefer) and food you will ever need. The island is surrounded with every fish known to man, marlin to herring! Theres plenty of structure around and in all depths....consider this!
There is only one catch......... you can only have 1 rod and reel combo! Also 1 lure that you can have as many of as you want as long as its only one size, colour and brand. Terminal tackle like leader, spare line and the like are also plentiful. Choice wisely as you only get one! The combo also has to be one you already have.
Give your reason from your choice also.Think like i did and ask yourself....how many fish can i catch on one type of lure and one combo!
See how you go...............

Well
If I was stranded on a island with all the beer and all the girls and food I could need, I wouldnt be thinking much about fishing. As my personal rod and tackle would be extremly busy ;)

Combo
I'd take my 10 kilo 10ft rod with a spheros 14000 or something similar and a white lead head jig.
Reason being everything eats lead head jigs, Bugger going for the big fish on big tackle as the first time you do you get spooled and thats it mate no more fishing. Stay light and bust off if you are undergunned.
Cheers

REEL - ALVEY 650 LEVER DRAG - 500m 10KG
ROD - CUSTOM MADE SNYDERGLASS 12ft SURF ROD 8-15kg
LURE - RAIDER 200G
The alvey is not the best reel for throwing metal.....but if I could only take one...
How many girls are on this island? I don't get out fishing enough with one wife...let alone open polygamy

Is that one of the girls?
Nice avatar there Tailor Mark....it had me well and truely on the island, though it took me a while to get my head around to fishing.
Anyhow, I'd go my 10ft 1 piece and trusty old Penn. The lure would be a silver twisty 20g range.
Reason: The one piece rod as I'd want to reduce the chances of the top part of my rod coming loose during casting sessions and snap my lure off.
My trusty old Penn reel as it is a tough old buggar that has been bashed about on rocks, dumped in sand and salt water and still works a treat. Easy to maintain, simple design and doesn't have a heap of moving parts which would break down.
Silver twisty...catch all sorts of fish including (table and bait fish)to put on livies, fresh bait (with the terminal tackle) or fresh feed on the table....impressing all the girls back at camp! :)

I'm strandard with girls!!
Rod - Ugly Stick Spinstick 6-8kg's
Reason - It's the heaviest rod that I have but it's incounted many different species and it's very trusty!
My reels screaming zzzzzzz.... awwww damn it, its another boat!
All the best for the future fishing trips.
Cheers.... Jangles

Hi Ya,Rod - my 1 piece 12'
Hi Ya,
Rod - my 1 piece 12' that I've had for 27 years. Never let me down yet. Had it so long the brand name has worn off.
Reel - My Banax Posiedon 5600 - Reason - has somewhere near 500m of line on it - 300m of Finns Spectra 20lb Braid backed up by somewhere 200m of 20lb mono. That will cast a country mile and a half and should stop most things witht that much line.
Lure - Probably an 80gm Raider with the trebble removed and a single 6/0 Gamakatsu hook.
Cheers.
