not to much.. wedge point i think its called? (not ledge) and point peron are about the only 2 landbased spots in perth... all the rest is protected or cr@p. if u got a boat then try all around rotto for snorkelling and spearing in the deeper parts out of the restriction zones and also garden, carnac mewstone and five fathom all really good

Yes you can.  Better question, Is it a good idea? Probably not.

I have been on a few dives with small packets of chips, bread or lesnack packets go pretty well to attract schools of fish.

Just keep in mind that it can also attract undesireable's, especially up north, We used to have 2 divers in the water spearing and someone in the boat on the lookout for biteys.  The person on the boat wasnt allowed to fish or burley up until the divers were finished.

Had one incident I can think of where the bloke in the boat spotted two decent sharks headed towards us, I had speared a fish on gidgee, the bloke in the dinghy brought it to me and I got in and sorted out the fish.  Dad had speared a fish and had the spear get stuck into the reef. We took the boat to him and helped get the spear out.  Went over for a look to where the sharks were about 150mts from us, was two 3.5 mt tiger sharks.

i've been gidgying around some places in woodies point(secret reef)

and get lots of whiting herring.

what i do is put holes in a water bottle and fill it mulies and tie a weight and a float on it

heaps of whiting and herring around and the fish come to you so you just go to your burley and fire away.

but i would never burley up up north
