big brook dam in pemberton.
big brook dam in pemberton. Caught plenty of redfin using placcies. Get the red ones, either all red or cream nose with a red tail.
Redfin eat their young, so when they see a little red fella swim past them they think 'ah brilliant, another one of my babies for lunch.'

thanks mate!
how did you go with the trout there???
ive noticed lately down that way that in the dam the redfin seem to be multiplying.
it used to be an occasional redfin at big brook and mainly trout.
from the reports ive got lately it seems to be becoming a good spot for reddies to
ive only ever got trout at the big brook arboretum camp site if uve been there i got 2 rainbows but weve seen some BIG rainbows in the dam and dad caught 2 in a row about 40cm each. and we seen a monster sunning itself in the concrete pool directly below the spillway he would have been two kilos and just sitting there (and he wasnt dead) he was looking at our spinners but wasnt interested. i think if we'd had a fly to drop over his head he would have rose up ad grabbed it because he was less than a foot under the water .
seen him every day we fished in the dam always sitting in the exact same spot.
he probably was stuck because the spillway was just overflowing and would have stopped weeks later and if he didnt go downstream he was stuffed.
we also saw a very amazing thing.
because the dam wall was not overflowing alot the marron ( all smallish ) were climbing up from below the spillway up the wet and flowing wall back into the dam!!!
the kookaburras points of view they saw the wall as a " buffet " and were swooping left right and centre grabbing the marron who were frantically inching their way up the wall into the dam.............. hope you enjoy reading this coz it took a while to write and will take a while to read haha hope its worth reading anyway bye and thanks for the tip.
ohhhh i forgot to ask how big were the reddies??? did you measure or weigh them or an estimate will do thanks mate
