We seal any timber with resin

Just pick up  resin and catalyst from hardware shop and paint, roll it on, let dry (important to let dry as it binds the outerlayer) and then repeat.

Be very carefull with the catalyst, dangerous stuff, and DO NOT SPILL.

Any 2 part resin will do the job, I prefer the slow dry stuff as there is more soak and work time.  Take you time and brush in hard.

Do not add more hardener then is recommended.

If you are going to seal it

If you are going to seal it with a resin I wouldn't bother getting marine ply a good quality ply will work. As long as you are sealing the whole lot, not just the edges.

Make sure you get a laminating resin not a gelcoat.

And some throw away gloves it's messy!

Actually it depends on how

Actually it depends on how long you want it to last.  Outdoor ply - water proof but not as many layers and the layers not as nice as marine ply should do fine, but the best way to seal it would be to pour and spread.
