Shore Catch Update - At Last the Doors are Open!!!

The old saying that it takes 80% of the effort to complete the last 20% of the work certainly holds true.  The whole “mission” to set up our business has been a difficult task as we are just one family and there has been so much work to do.  Nevertheless, I always knew it would take hard work and investment to make something of value that customers might want to use.

We will open during our normal trading hours from Monday 22 February 2016.  All of the current information about Shore Catch is on our website (  It’s probably better you look at that, if interested, rather than me writing an “essay” here.

I know why I never pursued a career in IT – I have lost track of the number of hours required to make the site and it is a fairly boring task.  A web site is a really important part of a business however and I have had to build a new one from scratch, and try to make it how I would like to view a site.  It has just been published but I will continue to work to make it better, add products, keep it up to date and further develop the social media aspect.  It’s new, and there will be errors (still in testing but mostly there) so please feel free to message me with anything that has been missed or is wrong.

Our product list will constantly change as items are added or deleted.  The second-hand section of our site has no products yet but this will be populated with the equipment we have to date next week.  We hope that Members will see this as a valuable service and consign equipment for sale with us.

Customer feedback and suggestions are so important.  I have designed a feedback form and have included this in the web site as we really want to hear from you.  I expect our product range and introductory price structure will vary based on the feedback we receive.  The help provided by FW Members so far has been invaluable, and I have put together the feedback form to hopefully make it easy for you to let us know what you think.

You are more than welcome to visit us in Wangara and say hello.

Web site links not the best

Mon, 2016-02-22 07:42

When you click on  stock shirts it takes you to custom shirts, and if you click provide feedback, nothing happens.

otherwise great !

great shop

Mon, 2016-02-22 14:36

Popped in to see Mick this morning and was very impressed. I was lucky enough to get a quick tour and chat about what the future plans were. Then ended up getting some of the pre packed bait (looks very nice), burley and a few onion bags (never seen these elsewhere).

No doubt I'll be back inthe future.

 Well done getting the shop

Mon, 2016-02-22 16:01

Well done getting the shop open, here's hoping it turns into a big success. Not planning on opening on Saturdays? Would have thought that may produce a few more customers? something to consider with your burley, is snapper season when it comes about :) im sure plenty fo fish the stones, the sound and 3 mile will be keen for some large stocks of burley!

I've run my own business in IT (More in infrastructure, Networks, hardware solutions etc) One thing i found, is once you build working relationships with other busineses life becomes a lot easier. I Feel your pain on the website side of things. I'm no developer, however I've got a guy i refer all my clients to for website development, does a great job and is very cheap! PM me if at any stage you may need some help on that front.

Good luck with the store

Thanks Bodie

Thanks for the comments mate.  We thought long and hard about weekends.  In the end we thought it better to open later on Thursday and Friday to allow people the time to get their bait, etc for the weekends.  My experience is that I always have that stuff ready beforehand.  Also, I really like to fish the monthly competitions and the other ones that come up throughout the year which are always on Saturdays.  Then there is the kids sport, etc, etc.  I did note we would open on weekends by appointment, you only have to ask and I sure I can arrange to meet you.  This also allows the FW Members footy games viewing  on occasions, as suggested by some Members, and we may also provide a service to shred frozen frames on Sunday's as well.

Bring on snapper season, not only for the burley.  Nothing better than fishing dawn and dusk and landing the big pinkies.

Appreciate the advice about the IT guy.  We will see how the current site goes but may have to upgrade in the future (hopefully) because the "build yourself" web editors have certain limitations.

Cheers.  Mick
