Shark fishing Fremantle

Just bought myself a Tyrnos 30 loaded with 500m of 80lb J-braid plus 50m of 100lb mono topshot. I don't have a kayak as yet so I'm limited to ballooning baits. Have read on the freo shire website that "Shark fishing/ ballooning" isn't allowed. Just wanna confirm this as I'd like to give ammo a crack when the winds are right. Pretty new to shark fishing/ ballooning in general so if anyone could help me out with some rough locations to try (not too too far) that would be appreciated. Tips are also welcomed, I've bought some pre made 400lb wire traces but would like to start making my own. Do I need 4m of wire or can I keep it shorter? Some help with ballooning from the beach also would be great.
Cheers!!

As above, this time of year

As above, this time of year with water warming your fishing for pelagic's not sharks...he he

Not sure what the bloke down the ammo jetty was targeting Christmas morning but ended with a nice tiger...gained a few spectators too.

Recon you would generally be ok, just stay away from popular swimming areas.

Recon 2m would be heaps but not shark expert.

I've done a lot of this so here's some tips brother.

The rig is simple. Your hook is shackled to 2m of 5mm galvanised chain. This is suspended from a 900mm balloon fender (available for free after dark at any yacht club haha). From there you just need to splice 250m of 12mm nylon or silver rope to the chain with an eye splice at the other end. If ya can't get that rope then trade a glass pipe for a 100 fathom cray rope down the commercial pens.

Setup. Again, keep simple. Back up the Commodore or Rodeo to your favourite spot and send ya fender out with whatever roadkill ya find on the way down. Splice on other end of the rope goes straight over the towball.

Pretty easy from there. Wait for a take then jump in the cab, engage 1st gear and roll slowly up the street. Don't go too quick, the stretch in the synthetic rope will absorb the thrashing but ya can pull the jaws out of the shark if ya get a bit excited!

Before you know it, some toothy critter is flappin around in the carpark waiting for you to back up and throw him in the trunk. Winner!

WARNING: Ya get the odd big resident seal as bycatch and it's not too pretty draggin one of those beasts up the mole rocks in front of a crowd. Been there, done that LOL.

Good luck young fella, it really is a good night out.
