Sambo season

Looks like this year the sambos are going to be a non event. Went out last week and sounded average looking spread out schools of fish. When a half decent school were located they wern't hitting jigs. Had two hook ups and got smoked, rekon I had hooked sharks. Maybe they will aggregate in larger numbers late this year or maybe the fishery is screwed! This time last year we were counting how many triple hook ups we could land!

Yeah might have to convert to shark jigging. Saw them jig up some sharks on craig's boat during the week. Was amazed they had a 200kg bronzie boat side in under an hour on spin gear! They almost had an even bigger one but just after we saw colour the line touched the underside of the boat and snapped. Very entertaining day indeed!

Nope, slim pickings!

One guy landed a 30kg fish on the first drop of the day, but that was it.

A couple of us hooked up but pulled the hooks. A couple got sharked. I reckon for a bit of fun you're better of buddying up with someone, attaching a few metres of wire to your shock leader and then tag-teaming it against a big bronzie.
