Predicted low billfish numbers for aibt and gamex
Submitted by Dirt on Sun, 2011-03-13 16:51
Its a real shame for exmouth holding the AIBT this year and the predicted billfish numbers being low in comparison to previous years due to the extreme rise in water temp and issues with clarity for this time of year.look forward to hearing some feedback from the first few days of the AIBT
P.S hopefully billfish numbers arent to low and all entrants still get into a few fish

I hear you Deepwater. Tough
I hear you Deepwater. Tough conditions tend to sort the Contenders from the also rans. I think a couple of the local blokes might raise a few early.
Any money on Apothecary, In Deep or Mahi Mahi 2?

Tara wont be lining up this year but I'm tipping 2012 might be big year for the ugly mob.

670 commodore
and the range is about the same. The reason i asked is the water you are looking for is a fair way away at the moment but that could change of course.
You can only fish within 80 nm of the post office from memory.I have a feeling a couple of boats will be doing up to 60 nm this year.

Will be trolling lures, cover as much ground as possible. Will probably head as far south of tandabitti as we can in a day maybe find some slightly cooler water. If all else fails follow the big guns around-(ha,ha

Ledge
From what I hear a lot of guys will be working around the ledge and out to the rigs.
My money's on Gatsey and the In Deep crew, the amount of preparation they've put in will be rewarded (oh and all the plumb livies they've got as well) Never know though and hope the predictions are wrong.

Preparation vs raw talent
Gatesy is due for a win but a few very talented crews up this year. The Aibt back to back with gamex is like the old days when it was a war of attrition some years. It will sort a few wantabe game fishos out.
The hardest part this year will be finding and keeping the water area quiet.

Too right
After 10 days of game fishing combined I reckon there will be a few people seeing things that just aint there come late next week. Your right though, certainly will be all about finding where they are and working it. With so many experienced boats and being of all shapes and sizes, there will be some very interesting and I'm sure memorable catches coming up. Will be down there most nights of the AIBT in case something is weighed.

Looking forward to some reports.

Best of luck to you Jeff,
Best of luck to you Jeff, just watch out for the drunks on Lastchance, they're animals and probably waking up now outside the potshot wondering what happened (i'm not jealous much)
