Postage costs for rods

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has had any experience posting rods. I am looking a buying a certain rod at the moment and if i do get it i will be responsible for the postage. It is a two piece 8 footer, so ill assume the parcel would be just over 4ft. It will be travelling from sydney to melbourne. If anyone could point me in the direction of a company or has any experiences themselves that would be great.

Done really well with these guys, http://www.smartsend.com.au/.

They specialise in low volume users and the pricing is very good.

Rod postage

Mon, 2010-12-13 21:24

I sell a heap of rods on ebay and send them all over the country.I originally used Smart send courriers but they "lost" three sets of rods in a row between Perth and Adelaide.Since then i have used Pack and send and havent had a problem since. They also send there items on the plane and most of the time they arrive at the destination the next day. It costs $45 which was a flat rate as long as it is under 5kg and if it is in a plastic tube.

Australia Post

Just stick them in a cardboard tube and send them with Australia Post, by far the easiest and cheapest.

I have had heaps of rods sent through the post up to 8 foot 6ins one piece without a mark on them in the cardboard tubes that they sell.

Yeh, I tried Auspost.. but on the website it says they dont allow parcels over 105cm. So they sell these tubes at the post office carnovite? I might go down tomorrow and find out what the go is. The easier the better because the other guy is gonna have to organise it all. Adam, in regard to pack and send is that price of 45 bucks with you supplying the tube or you?
