Popped my GT cherry today! - offshore bali
Went out with Adhek charters. Specialise in sport fiishing fo world record sie GTS and jigging for dogtooth, ruby snapper amberjack. Great lad awsome time, found out he hand crafts all his stick baits/poppers and they are sold world wide. Pitty about certain tackle companies copy his lures, for shape size etc etc......
apart from the heat and the missus and i battling bali belly, we had a ball!! learning new techniques jigging in extremem currents etc etc. Boy i never understood the fuss with these fish till now, ive caught blue marlin, tuna to 96kg, and now this guy is up there with the best of em. Pound for pound they are one serious fighting fish, back is aching, hands are cramping. Would of had over 400 casts today, and in the afternoon it finally payed off! All fish were released and swam off well!
Missus got a 9 kgish small one as well
32 kg GT! stoked

yerh im rapped with mariahs effort, unfortunately bali belly got her most of the day, and her head was in a bucket ( i recommened her not comming out, but she insisted), but once she watched a very hard brusing and back braking battle, she got up and started flicking poppers everywhere, with every cast we saw improvement, till she eventuelly hooked up and then it was taching her how to fight a fish, she did well and hopefully its got her more keen to get out on my boat in perth which a struggle with

Hard to describe the power of a GT on PE8 braid and 8 ft popping rod until you have done it. You will be doing it again, or sure!!!!

expensive eh but well worth it over going traditional fishing/trolling for jack all. Cheeper then the game boats off hawaii,but it sill expensive. Get on www.adhek.net. Take a look at his site, sells all his handcrafted poppers/stickbaits. I feel sorry for him in a way, that tackle companies rip off his lures, but when he tells you all the stories it always ended in a laugh and he looks at the funny side of it.
The price was 700 for the day, you have to rent out the boat, and a max of four people can go on it with his crew. Cant say anything negative about this charter, Adhek is a awsome guide, taught me a couple things about my techniques and casting with poppers, and he also taught some one who has neve sport fished in her life how to cast, retrieveing techniques off different lures. and taught you things generally a charter wouldnt teach you here in WA. Hes a very famous man in japan, and alot of people from there pay big cash for him to take them out, He knew all about the sambo jigging off perth, knew who shikari was and what he did for the jigging scene (al bevan). Great guy flat out refuses to kill any GT, and they worked hard reviving mine, as mine was a bit of a slog in the strong currents yesterday, tags every fish, no ciggie buds/littering in the water nothing, is a man in love with his job and has a huge passion.IGFA member I would recommend him to anyone who is willing to pay the money for some decent fishing off bali. even bought some poppers and going back for me tomorrow i think.
