plenty of time to fish
Submitted by chriss on Thu, 2012-01-12 14:18
So ive had alot of time on my hands these last 2 months as i crashed my dirtbike and busted my shoulder. i discovered a couple of weeks ago that i can still fish :) so i have been fishing the rockingham area everyday for the last 2 weeks with nothing to show but a few herring and sand whiting. pretty over this area so im thinking of going to some beaches further north for more of a chance for tailor. i dont have a 4x4 so it narrows it down a bit. im thinking floreat drain or city beach or something, has anyone fished these areas lately with any success as i just seem to be feeding the population of little fish down here. cheers

Havn't fished either of those
Havn't fished either of those areas recently but have further north again. Had a good sesh down near the Trigg SLC a couple of weeks ago landing 9 tailor to 44cm. Burns Beach session a couple of days after that got me 6 tailor all around 40cm. Further north to Club Capricorn & I had a great session about 3 weeks ago on tailor to 48cm, snook to 45cm & a pain in the arse ray.

Always evenings Chriss. I
Always evenings Chriss. I usually get to the beach around 6:30-7:00 & fish for about 3hrs. Never had any luck fishing for tailor in the mornings.
You should fill out your profile mate so people can see how old you are etc. That can help people decide if they want to invite you for a fish.

You have to be on the waters
You have to be on the waters edge or in it by 5.30am ish (sunup) here NOR.
Bag out every time just trolling a $3.50 lure from Big W, the ones that catch fish; (Berkley Frenzy firestick suspending 9cm Lime / Charteuse / white & the other colours they stock).
The christmas tree bullets and SS plugs they sell for less than $4 are also a great tool for Tailor etc.
You will not find these in the dedicated fishing shops sadly.
I did ask if they stocked them in a very well known establishment as they did have the Berkley stickers and the $15 + berkley range!!
One employed "expert" there told me that they do not work and you will not find cheap lures like that in their shop!
