Did you put a gravel stone in the jar when you did the mix up?
Heard that you have to do them the same way you do galahs/cockatoos,put a stone in the mix and leave it sit untill the stone goes soft.Then eat the stone because the other stuff is still too tough and doesn't taste as good either.

ACTUALLY IT WAS QUITE NICE
i just had to dig down the bottom a bit and find some more pickled chunks and it was sweet and tasty - recomend pickled eagle ray to anyone

spencers pickling spice and chopped onions in
white wine vinegar with sugar and bay leaves and peppercorns - yummo

eagle rays are awesome!!
The smaller the better for its meat is fine and soft.
Malaysia delicacy is called "ikan bakar"
Various spices and lime juice,lemon grass are mixed with the piece of ray and wrapped in aluminium foil and put over the fire.
