Night Fishing Invitational - Saturday 21st - 3pm Mindarie Ramp

Just a reminder that the fishwrecked night fishing invitational is this Saturday the 21st of October, Mindarie Boat Ramp at 3pm.

The plan is to meet in the upper car park a little before 3 to put faces to names. I know a few of you are planning to head out a little earlier to do some exploration, that's all good. The aim is to back at Mindarie Ramp by 10.30pm, with 11pm being the latest.

The weather conditions are the only thing which may cause the night to be delayed until Saturday the 28th. Seabreeze seems to say that it is going to be a good night and BOM is still changing as we speak.

Tomorrow afternoon should give us a good indication of what the conditions are going to be like and if it is a goer. Here's praying to the weatherman that he gives us something to work with.

Cheers,
Adam

Saturday Night

Fri, 2006-10-20 10:18

Still looking a little unsure yet, seems like today is going to be very similar to tomorrow. Its howling out there at the moment so hopefully they change the forecast otherwise it will have to be put off until the 28th.

Saturday: NE winds 15/20 knots tending N/NW 10/15 knots during the morning. Winds becoming S/SW 13/18 knots in the afternoon. Seas 1.0m to 1.5m. Swell to 2.0m.

Just improved again

Fri, 2006-10-20 13:59

Seabreeze has it with very light winds up until 8-00pm so looking good again.

Still, it will be up to individual skippers on the day as to whether it is safe boating weather. As it stands I'll be there, but at this stage will be looking for crew, if anyone is interested please PM me.

Cheers

Looked at the weather and looks ordinary but fishable. I will be there. 2mtr seas, 10-15knts winds. May have to return early if the wind does pick up but at this stage see you all back at the ramp by 11pm. I will be on the water about 1pm, will be on channel 91 if anyone else is out there at that time. See you all there.

Had a look and sundays weather, not looking to bad either. Using seabreeze and boyweather as a guide it looks ok. Today rotto was to be 20-25knt winds and it has only blown around 15-20knts. Tomorrow is not as windy. Looks the goods.

Hey Tapout!

Fri, 2006-10-20 17:24

Your problem will be getting your deckies mind back on the business of fishing after pulling an all-nighter. Poor guy will be plumb tuckered out by the arvo. (Hehehe)

Just save a couple of pinkies for me, Big John and Fishless Pete. That's our crew ready and raring to go! See you down at the ramp.

Live wind measurements

Fri, 2006-10-20 19:03

Certainly looks good tonight with even Rotto struggling to register above 10knots at present, which puts the original seabreeze dot com forecast of 20 knots plus out the window, though I reckon it might build offshore a fair bit. Lets hope it blows its nuts off tonight and eases to a whisper when we get out there late tomorrow arvo.

Cheers

Seabreeze.com as on 20/10/06

Fri, 2006-10-20 19:56

Seabreeze.com as on 20/10/06 8.00pm was showing the night as 15-20 knot winds....mmmhhhhh semi expected a pear shape moment to come along!

I'm going out during the day as that's not bad at all and if the weathers nice I'll stay out till later and see ya then perhaps.

I'm going to check the forecast in the morning and make a call then. Worst case scenario we head out early and finish as late as possible without endangering ourselves.

I think we should call it off.

Sat, 2006-10-21 08:07

Looked half a chance early this morning, but the latest seabreeze graph shows 20-25knot winds all day, with them easing to 15knots SW in the evening. I would think that by then the ocean would be pretty lumpy.

Personally I prefer not to fish in a washing machine.

I'm out!

Sorry guys, but there is always next week.

As we said earlier every skipper can make their own minds up. Good luck and safe boating to anyone who wants to brave those conditions.

Knowing our luck the wind will shut down at about 4-00pm and all the predictions will be wrong, ahh well that's boat fishing for you.

Cheers

Hopeless IMO

Sun, 2006-10-22 10:46

Seabreeze.com and BOM were horibly wrong on Saturday and I'm not supprised as they like being very inaccurate to probably justify their job.........SHIT CONDS yesterday and they updated the forecast 3 times and when I rang BOM midnight Friday night they said " Forecast for saturday issued at 4.30am".......WTF they predicting over 4 hours in advance........15knot forecast elevated to "strong wind warning issued"....FRIGEN useless!

I spent the day driving around marking new ground but didn't wet a line!

I agree !!!

Sun, 2006-10-22 10:51

I was bitterly disappointed yesterday, and even more so when the wind dies to a whisper at about 6-00pm when I had a house full of guests and a barbie cooking.

Then this motning I see Sherbet and Boutimes posts and wish I was out there.

Must have been nasty as while you were out there Ryan. Gusts to 37knots at times.

Cheers

Yep...shitty as!

Sun, 2006-10-22 14:28

Wasn't nice Andy but a few beers & bourbons smoothed the waters a bit (hehehehe)

Spent the whole day out still, found some nice new ground so it wasn't a waste launching the boat but lets say my heavy glass boat and my Rayline gas rider pedestals made all the difference :)

Sun, 2006-10-22 17:55

We headed out off Two rocks in a mates ali rig at 6 and got bashed around all day for nothing ,went 10ks off waiting for the wind to drop, I hate them forcasters ,early thunderstorm and then a glass off my arse.....Hopefully next sat will smile on us all....
