New NT fishing boat ramp

$215,000 Boat Ramp To Be Built At Channel Point
Fisheries Minister Chris Natt today announced Advance Civil Engineering as the successful tenderer to build a new $215,000 boat ramp at Channel Point Coastal Reserve.
“This Government has spent more than $1 million establishing facilities at the Channel Point Coastal Reserve to make it one of the Territory’s great outdoor destinations,” Mr Natt said.
“This $1 million includes the construction of internal roads, camping areas, toilets and showers, picnic and parking areas, and visitor information.
“The construction of this new $215,000 boat ramp means Channel Point Coastal Reserve – 240km south-west of Darwin – will become a highly sought after, semi-remote fishing destination not too far off the beaten track offering anglers a new range of opportunities.”
Mr Natt said the boat ramp at Channel Point Coastal Reserve would be a combination of concrete and cement stabilised pavement, approximately 60 metres long and five metres wide.
“Fishing in the Territory is set to get even better with the construction of this new $215,000 boat ramp,” Mr Natt said.
“Channel Point Coastal Reserve near the Peron Islands is a spot well known for its range of popular fish – so you could expect to pretty much catch anything – such as barramundi, black jewfish, snapper and Spanish mackerel.
“And with all the improvements that have been made to the Reserve in recent times - such as the construction of an internal road, toilets and showers – it is set to become a great fishing destination for families to spend a few days off the beaten track.
“Fishing is more popular here than anywhere else and a huge part of our great Territory lifestyle and that is why we are building a boat ramp at Channel Point Coastal Reserve.”
Mr Natt said that it is envisaged the boat ramp will be completed this dry season, with visitors required to obtain a permit to access the area.
He said a maximum of 10 vehicles and 50 persons will be permitted in the Reserve at any one time to provide a unique visitor experience.

I'll say one thing for the NT, they've definitely got their stuff together regarding rec fishing/tourism being their number one money spinner. Great place.

They have now completed the extra finger jetty at Coral Bay.

Apparently Bundegi has started as well, there was a excavator there digging up the concrete the other day so I can only assume that construction will start soon.  HERES HOPING!!

They are on the front foot up there with a lot of things. Not like some (maybe most) of the State Govts.
