Decided that it was about time I did the update to my HDS8m GPS. The instructions (from the link above) were quite straight forward...the most time consuming part was downloading the update. Followed the instructions and it's all done.
Not wanting to find out the hard way that my waypoints were going to be ok, I copied them to a spare SD card and saved them to my computer, just in case.
Then I took a series of photos of my waypoint pages...just in case I lost them during the update...and I then suffered from a computer crash. No need to worry because after the update they're still here on my GPS.
Not sure what benefit I'll get from the update as I've not been out on the water, but time will tell.
