Mate what I think is that the 2010 model Certate's will now be going out cheaper to make room for the new stock- so I will pick up a few of those as I know they are a good reel and have had no issues with the 2000 I currently own- then again I dont crack open the seals to have a captain either.
As for the Hawk maybe when he spilt the magnetic fluid then scooped it back up and poured it back in he added some of the bickie crumbs off the floor...No real suprises there from Al.
Good call on picking up the clearout models, they'll be good value. If I had the coin I would pick up another Stella 5000 before it's too late. Most already seem gone.
Not happy with mine at all. Made the mistake of buying it online from PLAT, whem line was spooled on it looked ridiculously uneven. I sent it back and they said they had sent it to Daiwa for adjustment, it looked only slightly better than previously, and they said that Daiwa could do nothing further.
As far as I am concerned the line lay on my reel is not normal at all.

Shallow Spool
The spool on that reel looks unusually shallow to me. Won't hold much line at all. Other than that it looks mint!!
Burley it and they will come.

They do shallow spool and
They do shallow spool and normal spool models.
Eg. Certate 2004, 2506 (shallow spool)

Cant really tell?
Daiwa have shallow spool models in between their normal size reels, 2000, 2500, 3000 and 4000 with 2004, 2506, 3012 and 4020 sizes.
maybe just a picture of 2004 but its hard to read what's on the spool.

I won't be getting one and this is why. Don't wanna upset Saltiga spin owners either but Alan makes a good point in his reply in this thread.
