New boat

Hi guys.

i will be expecting delivery of my new boat in a little over a months time. I have been doing a lot of thinking about how to set it up as I hope to be able to be capable of taking it to some more remote places, and doing some more extended trips. It’s a 6.4m Caribbean reef runner, and should arrive by end of feb. unfortunately I am not in a position to do the work myself, and am not keen to use the new toy as a learning experience!

Engine being fitted by aqua sports marine, and stereo, radio bilge and some lighting will be done by Mansfield marine, but i was hoping people could give some recommendations as to where to head for advice and installation of the following.

1) sounders, transducers and installatio

2) electrics, battery set up, lighting etc

3) custom covers, storm covers etc

Anything else?

i have a few ideas based on my research but really need to talk to the people in the know about getting it done etc. I am planning to invest a bit getting everything done as would like to make sure it’s done right the first time, so if you have had any good experiences I would be very keen to hear.

thanks heaps..... getting a bit excited!

Caribbean Fit out

Fri, 2020-11-06 13:14

I purchased a C2400 Caribbean from Mansfield's 5 years ago and had them do everything because I did not have the necessary skills or access to relevant trades. They fitted the electronics, batteries and outsourced the "clears". Very impressed - everything was perfect and had no problems. The only issue which was probably from my lack of knowledge was that the 1.1 kw Transducer was mounted on the transom and threw a rooster tail over the motor (which was close by due to being twin motors). Mounted a cover on the transducer and all good. I have since sold the boat to buy a house and move to Kalbarri - will be looking at a Reef Runner next year, so I have been reading the threads with great interest especially with the cray pot winch & tipper.

Any work you get done by

Any work you get done by Mansfield Marine will normally be very good. Travis is a mate of mine but he does great work. He's a pleaser and a bit of perfectionsist in my experience.

Yes, upvotes for their work

I had them do some of the work on my Reefrunner,, after an honest self-evaluation of what I could do, and what was better left to them. No complaints whatsover about the quality of the work performed.  They actually are shipwrights, not some outboard mechanic fitting out a boat in a workshop.
