Mandurah Boat Show Furuno 585 / Lowrance HDS 7

Just got back from the boat show.

8 of 10 I reckon. Good displays and a good turnout.

Anyway while there I ended up bargining for a Furuno while my good mate did the same on a Lowrance.

I got a 585 ($2100) he got a HDS 7 ($2000).

We have a little wager, over 6 months he reckons he'll kick my ar*se.

Let the games begin????

Anyway all that aside what do all think about the two.

All comments welcome (good & bad).

Cheers in advance....

Understand that HuggyB.

We both have good spots and do have half a clue.

It's more about the "Bragging Rights"

Was just was looking for more of a "debate" so to speak.

Cheers.

Furuno is the best by far.

Furuno is the best by far. If you want to really kick ass upgrade your transducer as it is the thing doing all the work. I have an 1100l with a 2kw transducer and can see fish in 400m on the walls of the trench. Talk to the guys at taylor marine about the best transducer and get them to show you all the tricks. They know their shit.

I,ve got the Furuno and think it's great. With the HDS unit I believe you can plug in that new structure scan that Lowrance have come up with. Be interested to see how that goes. Mates just got a HDS7and think he's gonna give it a go when it's available.

Yep, its like Holden and Ford, i got the Lowrance 1.5kw broadband very impressive once you know how to drive it , and the Furuno was the second choice, big difference was the screen size and ratio of pixel count which gives the clearer picture and definition,  my choice was lowrance on this line and i have had good readings at 280 mts , but good luck out there .
