Leader breaking strain question/issue (150lb mono breaking between 55lb and 80lb)

Hey guys,

Decided to test my rig making with crimps. I crimped a hook on one end of my mono and a loop on the other in the same way I do to attach a hook to a 3 way swivel. Hooked the scales through the loop and the hook on a metal bar. Each time my rig broke between 55lb and 80lb. Some tests the mono broke in the middle not at either crimp which I think eliminates bad crimping?

Can anyone shed some light as to why it breaks so easily when it states 150lb on the Jinkai leader (which I bought yesterday) and 120lb on my black magic leader.

Cheers

supple leaders.

Supple leaders like jinkai are soft and can be cut through by what there tied to if knots are used or sometimes cut through themeselves.  No end of dramas with them gt fishin you need to crimp and use the protector sleeve if you want no issues.  To test I tie a hook on with a uni knot and attatch it to something solid. I leave a few meters of leader out  and wear gloves a few wraps of line around them.  A few sharp bounces under decent pressure will usually see the knot fail. Some brands are worse than others.  I only use hard leaders now penn10x  is a good cheap one.
