1. I'm not much of a fan, depends what you're trying to catch

2. lots of good rods, but fiberglass.... no (well, maybe the smith WGJ, but thats not in that price range). Why do you want a fibreglass rod for jigging?

3. Around $20, zest baitfish are my fav. Lately I really like the caprice kids, also smith CB's, lightens, etc. Bit more than $20, but better getting less of something that works better than heaps of average ones IMO.

Fibreglass rods are barely

Fibreglass rods are barely tolerable for baitsoaking, but for jigging where you're working the rod the whole time, they are dreadfully heavy.

There are any number of good rods available from the site sponsors for jigging 150g rods,  but thats PE3ish I guess.

$200 seems very little money to spend on a rod.

Danno - I'm assuming you're a young bloke, so understand you're funds are limited.

I started out young & couldn't afford top quality gear & you'll find Jamie & Matt (hlokk & till) probably started similarly.

I'd suggest you go down to your local tackle store or preferably one of the site sponsor stores & discuss what's available within your budget & skill set. You'll find you can still get into it without the need to spend a fortune. Later down the track & with more experience, you'll be able to look at better quality gear that ultimately, makes jigging easier in a number of ways.

Your wilson jigs will be ideal of sambos - you may even want to consider soft plastics or octa jigs.

those Silstar crystal blue powertips are great. Light but can take the knocks. 4 around 170 will get you a med jig rod spin or overhead that should last you quite a while.

yea, go the ugly stick if you're a lil low on funds. For around 270 should be able to get you a light and heavy ugly stick for both worlds. They do the job and dont taper as sloppy as alot of other glassies out there. But definately a good option. Got a bunch of jiggin options for you to work with at the store if you decide to drop by. We'll show ya all the different types of jigs we stock and how they can differ in action as well.

Im sure honsu will have alot to say soon as you metion jigging lol.

I'm still getting into the jigging seen myself, but I also don't think you need to be looking at an outfit that needs to use jigs to 200grams for inshore waters. I'm fishing jigs from 60 - 100grams max out to 50 metres. Your details don't say where your location is but judging by your favourite location being Rockingham, your not too far away from the crew at Oceanside Tackle, and these guys will look after you for sure.
