He was speeding, in an unlicensed vehicle, while holding a beer, while probably over the legal alcohol limit and gave a false name and all he got was a $160 fine and an escort back to the marina? If it was a car, theres no way thats all he'd get. It said they cant legally breathlyse him (though, he did offer, so perhaps they could have asked for a voluntary reading, but its probably more complicated than that).
pity the police couldn't breathalize him. bet he was way over the limit. lock him up and take his boat away imo. bloody wanker. would hate to be anchored under the narrows fishing, and have a pissed knob like him ram into the side of me at 30knots in the dark ....
but Constable Tuchifeely "don't touch mee" and grumpy Sgt Donga would not be my choice to spearhead the new " Don't punch a Precious Polisman" campaign either. Plum job apart from picking up the odd souper so relax a bit boys.
is no joke - 12 months mandatory is well deserved if you are a smart arse and wack a public officer - but at nearly 60 i have been around long enough to have met a few members of the constabulary who wouldn't rate 0 in the reasonable human being stakes.
in this case the police officer could have laughed it off i reckon but in some situations they cant - i spose he was probly a bit worried about wat the dude was gonna do cos he wasnt playin the game.
I saw that on TV. They said he has a long history with the police, and was just safer and easier to escort him back to shore instead of using force to take him down.
I wouldn't want to taser, spray or shoot some 100kg drunken idiot and have to fish him out the water. I would get the berley out and wait for a bullshark to clean it up.
