a gang is considered 1 set of hooks, and you are allowed 3 sets.

Thats why you need to be careful when utilising the 6 -8 hook bait jigs. One of the mates was fined the other day up here as it was still on his rod.

sorry to hijack,
but what about snells? would a snell of 2 hooks count as 2 hooks or one?
mack, a snell is considered as one set of hooks.
cheers for clearing that up leemo
but realistically, why would you have to use 3 snells or 3 gangs on a rig? one is more than enough haha
haha, yeh imagine the mess casting a paternoster into the surf with 3 baits hanging off it.
deep, deep water fishing i would use 2, but 3 seems like overkill

i use 3 hooks in deep water ... 1 big snell on top and then 2 small droppers under that ... i dont get tangled very often and dont see the problem
i only ever use 2 snells when im bottom bashing. one with 7/0s, the other with 5/0's.
