Hey, i am in yr9 atm and have access to a metalwork room, and was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to make your own knife jigs for kingfish/sambos???
I have some experience in the metalwork room, so i am fairly capapable, can mig and oxy weld if necessary.

Mate you go as far as getting
Mate you go as far as getting or making a lead mould and then make your own jigs that way and then attach your hooks via kevlar cord or just use a few old spanners like someone else on here did awhile ago and was catching sambo's and dhui's on

Be creative Fisher Kid. Look
Be creative Fisher Kid. Look at lot's of pictures and you will create something good, I'm sure! Even a length of solid tubing with not too much diameter and some holes drilled in each end is a start.
Good luck.

simplest ones
get some old chrome tube (pram frame) fill with molten lead flatten each end and drill holes for attaching assist hook
and swivel thats what we did 30 years ago in the uk catching cod etc, we called them pirks back then and
they worked very well

Butter knives but the blades
Butter knives but the blades and use the handle. Get some solid rings from tackle shop and weld them into the holes. So long they are chrome and shiny sambo will hit it.
if you can lay your hands on low density metals even better. U can increase the profile of the lure without increasing the weight. That means the jig stays in the strike zone longer and you can twitch it right in front of the fish face.
google dancing magic.
as for Assist cord, anything from 150lb dyneema onward wil do.

Go to the op shops
Go down to the op shop and you can buy a heap of knives, spoons, forks for not much and use the handle for the lure. The lighter handles make great spinners with a treble for salmon, tailor etc and the heaver ones are good as knife jigs with a assist hook in shallow to medium depths and light lines. A slight bend will give the handle ( lure )action. Hooks depending on price and the size of the lure.
