Help, rod is stuck...

hey there,

went for a fish yesterday, and well I got my 12ft rod stuck... because while i was trying to shove it in the sand i accidentally grabbed the 2nd part of the rod and pushed it down. Its no longer a 2pc rod but a 1 pc now...

Had trouble bringing it back home. Any tips on how to separate the two? Had a couple strong guys try and twist and pull but no results.

Thanks

Best way is to put the rod

Best way is to put the rod in a freezer. Damn hard with a 12 footer though haha.

Maybe try getting an ice pack or some ice and wrapping it really tightly around the join. leave for 30 mins and give it a go.

Be careful where you spray

Be careful where you spray the CRC - as you won't be able to get a decent grip on it otherwise!

If the ice and CRC don't work out - wrap the butt end in a thick cloth and place in a vice - being very careful when you tighten the vice not to damage the rod. This will free up both hands so you can really put the pain on...

Ice pack it for an hours or so, should shrink in a little enough to get apart.

Cheers

Try this

It may sound a bit strange but get two people.  Rather than have the tug of war facing each other each of you step over the rod back to back (bum to bum).  Now each twist rod in opposite directions while pulling rod away from one another.  Good luck.

A hint for the future

Before you connect any rods together rub the male end fitting up against the side of your nose.  The natural oils in the skin will act as a lubricant.

The best thing to do is use

The best thing to do is use graphite dust on the joins. You will never have any trouble pulling the rod apart.

SVO.

Nose oils , bum to bum manouvres hahahahaha.

Just a rule that I use at work when freeing objects is that you need to heat or warm to expand the outer object if that makes sense, not to cool as you're contracting the item. basic physics at work.

i had four two piece jigging

Tue, 2010-02-23 08:45

i had four two piece jigging rods, and 3 gt rods jammed after a rough trip home from out wide. would not budge, put them in a walk in freezer for two hours, and they they were seperated without much pressure. nose, forhead oil, lead pencil on the male end they will work but if its a snug fit its usually a very snug fit after a few months.
