The Hand held garmin are
The Hand held garmin are pretty good. That way when you get out and go for a walk into the bush you can still find your way back to the car.

Just a warning
On some Garmin models if the battery goes completely flat you loose all waypoints

garmin gpsmap 76cs
I use a garmin gpsmap 76cs, it runs on 2 AA batteries, easily replaced to repower if flattened. has a micro SD to install maps on and records waypoints. holds waypoints even when dead flat for over a couple of months. works well, I have mine as a backup to my system in the boat. used around mt magnet area with great reception. elieve its a discontinued products now as I have had mine for over three years and still going strong. able to be mounted in a cradle and run of 12 volt power as well wired into a car or boat.
